This study analyses the production status and technical efficiency of shallot farming households in Can Tho city, Vietnam. Using descriptive statistics and the Cobb-Douglas production function, primary data were collected from 86 farmers in Vinh Phuoc, Vinh Chau, and Khanh Hoa wards. Results show that the average technical efficiency of shallot cultivation is 78.38%, indicating a relatively high level of efficiency. Shallot production generates stable income for households, while the age of household heads, farming experience, and number of workers positively influence technical efficiency. The study suggests practical solutions to improve productivity and ensure sustainable livelihoods for farmers. © 2026, IPMEDIA SDN BHD. All rights reserved.
