Objective: To analyze the implementation of Law 10.639/03 in the university library of IFCS-IH/UFRJ, emphasizing its role in building decolonial collections and promoting critical information literacy. Method: This is bibliographic and documentary research with a qualitative approach, focused on analyzing collection development practices linked to public policies, academic demands, and the ethical-political commitment of information professionals. Results: The findings show that the collection's update gave greater visibility to historically marginalized knowledge, expanded the pedagogical role of the library, and reinforced its engagement in teaching, research, and outreach. Conclusion: The experience reveals the potential of the university library as a political-cultural agent for knowledge democratization and critical formation, offering references for other institutions seeking inspiration in Law 10.639/03 for the development of their collections. © (2026), (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina).
