Abstract

The escalating climate crisis necessitates robust corporate decarbonization, yet businesses often struggle with the complexities of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission forecasting and evaluating mitigation strategies. This paper introduces a novel matrix-based computational model designed to simplify these challenges, enabling companies to simulate future emissions trajectories and assess the combined impacts of various reduction initiatives. The model systematically structures the GHG inventory, projects emissions under Business-as-Usual scenarios by accounting for internal growth and evolving external factors, and quantifies the effects of decarbonization actions described through activity data modifications. A steel manufacturing case study demonstrates its practical application. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s) 2026.
