Abstract

This chapter explores the future trajectory of Just Green Transitions within Europe's external dimension, with a specific focus on the Eastern Partnership (EaP). For the upcoming journey, the EaP should prepare and operate as a part of a wider partnership of shared responsibilities to overcome regional disparities and address societal needs. To this end, the chapter examines the successful practices of Western Balkans, which, despite not being EU members, have pioneered their own Green Agenda. These experiences—rooted in shared socio-political histories—could be the foundation of the EaP’s transition pathway. The chapter further explores the policy and governance frameworks needed to build multi-level partnership in EaP, capable of leading the complexities of the green transition. As the guiding tool, it proposes the specifically tailored Just Green Transition roadmap to align and deal with regional specificities within the EaP. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s) 2026.
