The promotion and organization of leisure-related events attract potential tourists, interested in such activities, to the regions where these events are held, thus ensuring the development of tourism. In the context of contemporary tourism, cultural, artistic, and sporting events are considered effective strategies for creating an image of the destination where they take place. The aim of this study is to examine the participants’ experiences at a specific event, the 3rd Eşme Quince Festival, in order to identify differences in their participation and their perception of it, using the participants’ sociodemographic characteristics and specific dimensions (affective, physical, cognitive, and innovation) as study variables. To this end, 392 festival attendees were surveyed, and their experience was analyzed from various dimensions: affective, physical, cognitive, and innovative. The results show that certain sociodemographic variables of the participants, such as age, gender, education level, and experience, influenced both their participation in the event and their perception of it; in contrast, their income level did not significantly affect these aspects. © 2026, Universidad Externado de Colombia.
