Objective: To identify the information mediation actions carried out by the Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflict (OVCS) and assess their alignment with the defense of human rights and the development of social protagonism. Methods: A case study combined with participant observation, including the use of a questionnaire, an intervention presenting a synthesis framework of the main conceptual approaches adopted in the study, followed by interviews with the information mediators working at the OVCS. Results: Seven information mediation actions were identified, aligned with the roles and activities promoted by both the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN), and consistent with key elements and indicators related to the advancement of social protagonism. Conclusions: The information mediation practices developed by the OVCS are aligned with the promotion of social protagonism. Notably, the mediators demonstrate awareness of the importance of information in fostering active citizenship and recognize their role as information professionals committed to promoting and defending human rights through mediating practices that contribute to building a more inclusive and just society. © (2026), (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina).
